Radio Work

Here you will find a catalogue of all of the graphic work descriptions of work I have done for my radio show Open Window

What is Open Window?

Open Window started as a variety radio show that plays all kinds of different themes and genres, with special segments. Open Window originally started at Longwood University's (L.U.) WMLU 91.3, Student ran radio station. The radio show was founded upon my immense love of music, and wanting to share and talk about it with those around me.

For every radio show I create a full script incorporated with needed radio transitions, a set list of all of the songs played, and  hours of research on information about the songs played. I then create a digital graphic used for every playlist.

"I created this show because of my love for music and wanting to share it, but it also gives me an opportunity to play the music that you don’t normally hear on the radio."

Longwood University's WMLU 91.3 radio station, it is completely student ran with advisory by faculty; Computer Operations Manager Ben Jones, and the Communication Studies

Department Chair / Associate Professor Jeff Halliday.

The WLMU 91.3 radio station, is broadcasted into the town of Farmville VA, and on WMLU's web-stream. At the station I am responsible for PSA's every 15 minutes, all of the music and audio used on air, and knowledge of how to use all of the equipment.

At WMLU 91.3, I start the show with a tradition first song of every show is on vinyl. The second one being the special segment Spark. Which is where I play a song that was the spark of inspiration for another song, by either incorporating a sample, or other features. The song that was inspired can either play prior or after.

Radio at WMLU 91.3

When I am not at WMLU 91.3, I was introduced a way to be able to radio broadcast from home. Using the STATIONHEAD app, (which is an online live streaming radio app) it gave me the opportunity to continue Open Window remotely from my own home. Over the summer (2022), I have created and conducted nine digital graphic covers for all nine curated playlists incorporating different themes. Which I then host my hour long radio shows every Friday from 9-10 p.m. (EST) from my own home.
